People often feel that quitting your job to start a business is too risky because so many new businesses fail. In truth look how many people are out of work right now because they trusted a company to always provide a job for them. Many of those same people do not have clear marketable skills because they were very narrow in their work duties.

When you become an entrepreneur you control your own time, you decide how much your time is worth and you can’t be laid off.

The only scary part of this is that you are also responsible for your own outcome and you have to provide value to the world in order to be compensated for it. This is the essence of freedom; you survive or fail base on your own efforts. Of course it never hurts to get a little help.

Today my wife Lan and I are trying to get home from a business trip to Nebraska.  We flew to Omaha on Tuesday to spend a couple of days looking at some apartment complexes we are considering purchasing.  Although my primary source of income is my Carbon Copy Pro business which allows me to earn a good online income from home or the road, my wife and I also invest in incoming producing Real Estate.

 We prefer to invest in emerging markets across the United States which is why we were visiting Nebraska during an ice storm.  We left our hotel in South Souix City at 4:00 AM this morning expecting to arrive in Durango, Colorado by 9:30 AM.  Now it is 12:30 PM, the Durango airport is still closed and we are in the Denver International Airport and hoping that we will be able to get on a 5:20 PM flight to Durango if the airport is open by that time, if not  it looks like we will be staying in Denver overnight.

The one saving grace in all of this is that since both my wife and I were able to quit our jobs last year, there is really no pressure to get back home today.  A few years ago I would have been going nuts, afraid to lose a days pay or waste a vacation day stuck in the airport.

I am writing today’s blog from the Atlantis Resort in Nassau, The Bahamas.  It is 75 degrees today and the sea breeze feels wonderful.  There are smiling, relaxed people everywhere and the scenery is beautiful.  I took a little time today to reflect on my goals and purpose in life. 

To experience life as a rewarding and magical journey, you must be clear about where it is that you want to go.  I am reminded of Lilly Tomlin when she said ” I always knew I wanted to be somebody, now I wish I had been a little more specific.”  If you are not specific about what you want in your life and also about what you will not allow, then you will just get what ever you drift in to.

The first step to getting what you want is having a clear vision about exactly what you want and how you plan to get it.  I must admit that I have had had some trouble with this issue myself.   Here are some questions to ask yourself.  Do I know who I am and what my purpose in life is?  Can I clearly communicate to others what I want?  What is my plan to reach my goals?  When you can clearly express to yourself and others exactly who you are and what you want, then it is surprising how quickly the universe can respond and bring you what you are asking for. 

I made the decision that I was not satisfied with many aspects of my life and then took steps to change myself what I was doing on a day to day basis.  I say change myself because it is true that for things to change, you have to change.  I found this to be absolutely true.  As soon as I changed my thinking, my skill set and my approach to life, everything in my life changed.

I invite you to try this simple exercise.  Take a few quiet minutes and write down just one thing that you are really good at, one thing that you love to do and you can use to bring value to others.  Now start to design your life around that skill and you will find increased joy, focus and productivity in your life. 

Now I am going to the beach to enjoy one of those drinks with the funny little umbrellas and watch the sunset with my beautiful wife at my side.

My wife Lan and I are so excited about the new year.  Lan invests in Large Apartment Complexes and she is making offers every week.  My primary business is really taking off also.  There are many positive changes coming in the near future and we are both ready to take advantage of them. 

I am feeling great about the decision I made last year to quit my 30 year career with the local Caterpillar dealership.  It scared the BeJesus out of me but I am happier now than I have been in years.  I now realize that I am in control of my own future.  I will never have a job again.  I now work for profit, not for wages.

I used to go to work every day and get paid for my time.  Now I work once and continue to get paid for the value that I create in the lives of others.  I want you to know that you can do this too.  I am not an exceptional person.  The only difference between me and every other blue collar worker is that I had the guts to try and the persistence to never give up.

My family and I had a wondeful Christmas weekend.  My wife Lan and I are planning to celebrate our new adventure on New Years Eve.  We are anticipating our best year ever in 2010.  We are both excited.  My wife and I both recently quit our full time jobs.  Of course all our friends and co-workers called us crazy.  Can you imagine giving up a safe, secure job in the middle of a recession?  We are both thrilled to be unemployed and psychologically unemployable.  Neither of us wants a job.  We are happy to work for profit and not for wages.

My beautiful wife Lani and I spent all of last week in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada.  We did not spend much time in the sun or in the casinos.  We did not get drunk or see any shows.  We spent our time in a conference room educating ourselves about how to reach financial freedom. We were attending the Wealth Masters International M2 Wealth Conference.

The line up of speakers and educators was incredible.  It included best selling authors, self made millionaires, self made billionaires and business owners.  We were presented with opportunities to invest in companies before they go public.  We were taught powerful investment strategies and educated about how the policies of our government will affect all of us in the near future.

The speakers included G. Edward Griffin author of The Creature from Jekyll Island.  This book greatly influenced Robert Kiyosaki because it exposes the fact that the Federal Reserve is not a federal agency and it has no reserves.  It is a cartel of bankers who criminally manipulate the money supply for their own profit.

We also heard from Peter Schiff, President of Euro Pacific Capital.  Mr. Schiff further outlined how the fiscal policy of our government has degraded our currency to the point that it is now advisable to invest in foreign countries using foreign currencies in order to escape the devaluation of our assets.

Other speakers included Wayne Allyn Root, the 2008 Libertarian Vice Presidential Nominee and Mike Maloney the man who advises Robert Kiyosaki on his investments in silver and gold.  Mike Maloney spoke on the subject The Greatest Transfer of Wealth in History is Happening Now and How You Can Win.  We also heard from Marc Bruner who has created over 10 Billion dollars in shareholder value through the companies he has personally founded.  Mr. Bruner presented us his views on where the next fortunes in the oil and gas industry will be made and offered us the opportunity to invest with him and build massive wealth.

The information we received at this conference was literally life changing.  It is worth many times what it cost us to attend.  How in the world did we find out about this opportunity?  How did we come into contact with and become members of this organization?  We were looking for something better.  We felt that there was something not quite right with what is going on in the world.  We had that uneasy feeling that what we were seeing going on the surface was not the whole story.
